'It sounded like Ansonia': City releases its own theme song

ANSONIA — Strawberry Field was an orphanage near his home in Liverpool that inspired John Lennon to write the song “Strawberry Fields Forever.” Billy Joel came up with the lyrics to “New York State of Mind” while riding a bus near the Hudson River.
And local songwriter Richard Demko was struck by the flowers blooming near Ansonia’s downtown to write “Ansonia Recharged.”

The song and video are played about four minutes into the podcast.
The interview includes Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti, Economic Development Director Sheila O’Malley, and Corporation Counsel John Marini. They’re joined by Seymour’s Richard Demko, the song’s writer and composer, and Rafael Klein, who shot and edited the video for the tune.

If anyone my local music scene in Southern Connecticut is deserving of the ‘jack of all trades’ designation, it’s Richard Demko, longtime multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, promoter and more. He has an ear for talent and a knack for making things happen. He’s a dad, too, which is awesome.
I had the honor of meeting Demko — a.k.a., ‘Rick’ — in early 2020 at Café Nine in New Haven, through a mutual friend who invited him to see my band Trashing Violet play its third-ever gig. NeuroTronix Records is an independent label based out of Seymour,Ct. According to their website NeuroTronix Records “represents artists of multiple genres of music and provides worldwide distribution services to hundreds of online music retailers“. Since being founded by Lauren Demko (CFO) in 2019, the label has amassed an exceptional roster and reputation.
The team at the label is also quite impressive. NeuroTronix Records is headed up by president and Senior A&R rep Richard Demko (Rick, Rick D Keys). Also on board are Vic Steffens (Horizon Music Group) and Amanda DeFilippo (Photo/graphic arts).

Richard Demko wears a lot of hats. mostly we know him as the head of Neurotronix Records (which recently released that excellent Passing Strange album), but here’s a look at his ambitious symphonic metal project, Demkovic. In order to warm up for their seven night string of sold out shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, The Black Crowes, hidden behind the alias of Mr. Crowe’s Garden, took the stage at Toad’s Place, a bar/concert venue in New Haven.
Rick Demko, the bookings coordinator at Toad’s Place, explained how the venue had to remain faithful to their gag order, as defined by the band’s tour manager. To paraphrase, he told me that if Toad’s Place were to break the news to anyone, the band would not play a single note. READ MORE.........
